I wrote this work for the acclaimed Verdehr Trio several years ago. Since that time they have played it all over the world including, recently, at The Phillips Collection in Washington DC, a performance about which The Washington Post remarked was a performance that was ‘a sometimes growling, sometimes melancholic rendition of Douglas Knehans's "Rive" [that] beautifully closed [the concert] out.’
